FROM DR ROBERTS

What a brilliant Indonesian Assembly we had last week with full credit going to Mrs McAdam.  I’m sure you can appreciate how much effort goes into such an assembly especially as Mrs McAdam only works one day each week.  Preparation for an assembly is enormous so we congratulate both teacher and students involved for such an entertaining event.  Thank you.

Throughout the year there are days dedicated to different people so instead of individually celebrating, for example, Principals Day, Education Assistant Day and the like, last year we decided to celebrate HPPS Staff Day.  At the same time, this year, we will be farewelling Mrs Pamela Barnes, an outstanding teacher attached to our school, whom many of you may know. We are holding our HPPS Staff Day in the Hawker Hub on Wednesday 20 November from 3:00-4:00 simply to recognise the valuable contributions each staff member makes to our fabulous school for the benefit of your children.

SCHOOL PROCESSES

At our last School Board meeting, we discussed the Draft School Budget 2025, Annual Report, our Executive Summary and the Board approved the 2025 Contributions and Charges.  We also discussed the analysis of the last Parent Survey provided to you.

Please see link for Analysis including Positive comments and Improvement Comments.

Parent Survey Analysis September 2024

As a school, we value all comments and suggestions made by parents and implement where possible.  The Board suggested addressing some of your Improvement suggestions in Hawker Headlines. One comment was for “rubbish to be put in the bin instead of taking wrappings home”.  Some of you may remember, the school introduced this practice of taking wrappings home some years ago in response to the then parents’ desire to support a ‘healthier earth’ by reducing plastic wrappings and encouraging parents to use compartmentalised lunch boxes.

Other comments will be addressed in future Hawker Headlines.

COMMUNITY WALK (TA1 & TA4)

TA4 and TA1 walked to Greenwood Shops on Monday the 4th of November. With some parents, we walked to look at places and things in our local community. To cross the roads we had to hold hands and wait for the green man. We saw parks, trees, flowers, bees and insects. We also saw houses, churches, shops and even a rubbish truck. We looked for natural, built and managed places along the way. On the way home we had a play at the park. Everyone felt relaxed and had a fun time.
