FROM DR ROBERTS

The campers have returned safely form Rottnest so we thank everyone involved in this exciting event that can only happen with staff volunteers. Thank you Mr Etheridge, Ms Atkinson and Miss Armstrong for volunteering your time to accompany the year 6 students to Rottnest.

Our year 6 graduation will take place on Friday morning 10 December. Information has and will be sent to parents.

End of semester reports will be sent home via email on Friday 10 December. Please ensure that the school has your correct email address. Where two reports are required for the one child, please make sure we have two email addresses.

Schools have been participating in the COVID-19 vaccination program for students in 2021 and distribute the following information from the Department of Health.

Parents/carers can visit healthywa.wa.gov.au to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment for their child if they:

  • haven’t yet received a COVID-19 vaccination; or
  • were unable to receive their second dose COVID-19 vaccination.

Please note that a second dose Pfizer vaccine should be delivered 3 to 6 weeks after the first dose. For further information on COVID-19 vaccination, visit Roll Up For WA

YEAR 6 CAMP

Another year 6 camp done and dusted. There was action, bike riding, quokkas, fun in the sun and swimming however there was not a lot of sleep.

What a wonderful bunch of year 6’s, you could not fault their behaviour or their manners.

Each Day was action packed with visits into the settlement, the Museum and the Oliver Hill Gun tour. Lots of swimming at the Basin, Pinkies and Thomson Bay and volunteer talks about Mysteries, Myths and Legends and the Stars during a star gazing tour.

The photos don’t do it justice but take a small peak of the 3 days away.

Such an amazing way to end the final year of Primary School.

CHRISTMAS CARD POST

It is a tradition here at Hawker Park when Christmas time is near that the Yr.6’s will offer a Christmas Card delivery service.

From Monday 6 December, your child will be able to post their Christmas Cards, for their classmates, in the Christmas Post Box outside the front office. These will be delivered to the student’s classrooms each day.

Please label the cards with the person’s name and TA (Classroom) to ensure delivery.

CHAPLAINS CHAT

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Christmas Appeal this year!! We have managed to fill 5 huge boxes! All donations will go to families in need and it feels like a privilege to be a part of it this year. I’ll pop a few photos into the next Hawker Headlines 🙂

Two more weeks of the year to go, many children and even parents may be feeling nervous about the transitions into new classes, let’s keep the conversations open looking for positives moving forward into 2022.

Take care,
Chevonne

P&C – COMMUNICATION

After an amazing 3 years as President it’s time to hand over the reins to some fresh and energised blood! There is a strong committee with loads of experience ready to support new recruits to the executive team. I will be around still and Karen will be able to help the new secretary (before Karen’s last child graduates next year!)

We’ve got some great systems in place, lots of info on how to run all the things and you certainly don’t need to be around as much as I have been to make a difference. Make the role work for you, do what you can and know that it’s rewarding and a great way to meet new people at school.

The AGM to vote in the new positions will be in Feb 2022. Please feel free to chat to myself or other committee members about what it’s like. Karen Hadfield-Secretary, Rebecca Chamberlain-Vice Pres, Deb Ryan-Treasurer, Kym Leary, Claire Butler-Ritchie, Cassy O’Sullivan, Jesica Batista, Shonny Lehane, Claire Jones, Megan George, Karla Santos and Anneleis to name a few.

And even though we just donated a heap of interactive screens to the school, I like these old school black board posters

Are you our new President?

Are you our new Secretary?

Thanks for all the support during my time
Emma
