FROM MR ETHERIDGE
This term is truly a very busy and exciting time, and it will be Christmas before we know it. Since our last Hawker Headlines, we have had our Interschool Athletics carnival, and an amazing Indonesian / Music assembly run by the fabulous Ibu McAdam and Mrs Subotic. The P&C also organised a terrific Halloween Disco for the children last Friday and everyone is looking forward to the P&C’s colour run this Friday. I’d like to thank all the wonderful parent volunteers who make these things happen around the school. I also would especially like to acknowledge Nicky and her numerous helpers in the canteen, as this Friday is Canteen Day WA.
The year sixes will be heading off to camp in two weeks and directly after that we will be commencing swimming lessons.
Next Friday 10th of November I will also be holding my final class rep meeting for the year.

SCHOOL BOARD – Profiles
Name: Chris Jones
Length of Service: 10 months
Background: I completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and then a Graduate Diploma in Education. I worked for 7 years as a school teacher teaching physical education, health and science. I left teaching in 2008 and have spent the last 15 years as an Aviation Fire Fighter at Perth Airport working for the Federal Government. I have continued to teach on and off in a casual basis as a relief teacher and have spent 10 years teaching fire and safety on various sites in the Pilbara as a second job on my days away from the fire station.
Kids at School: I currently have one child at the school, Owen, who is in year four. My daughter Isla completed her 7 years of primary schooling at Hawker Park and is now at high school at Carine.
Reason for Joining the Board: I was nominated to join the board at the end of 2022. After some consideration I thought it would be good to be involved at a decision-making level within the school and to help give back some time and effort to a school community that has been very good for my children.
STUDENT ABSENCES – CONNECT
We are asking Parents and Carers if you can please use Connect to submit any Student absences.
From your Connect Now app, go to ‘Home’, scroll down to ‘Send Absentee Note’ and complete the form. Once you have completed the form, please press submit.
Remember; in 2024 Class DOJO and Skoolbag will cease and written communication with parents will be through Connect only.
If you are unsure, please see Admin for assistance.
INTERSCHOOL CARNIVAL
On the 20th of October was our Interschool carnival hosted at Halidon Primary school. Everyone did their best and we all had a wonderful time. All interschool students had to compete in sprints and team games. Overall, Hawker Park placed 4th and we are very proud of everyone’s efforts and sportsmanship. Thank you to all the teachers who came to help with interschool. – Ava, Year 6
